Woodland
One of the activities I enjoyed from a very early age was to explore woodland; it is likely to have been one of the things that go me into photography. There is very little to compare with the absolute beauty of thick forest, giving a sense of being one with nature. Thankfully, in England, we have an abundance of them, with my local forests located in North Yorkshire, where a lot of these photographs were taken.

A ‘typical’ forest path in North Yorkshire, but this could be any forest path, to be honest. Just looking at this is enough to feel calm. The magic of trees is on full display here.

Another quite typical scene of woodland, made spectacular with the Sun shining through the trees.

Lots of lovely greenery here!

This is part of the woodland on the lower slopes of Kendal Castle, Cumbria. The shape of the trees is very appealing, along with the muted autumn/winter colours.

Photographing woodland can bring up various challenges -

Change of season now, on a sunny spring day; so now the trees cast long shadows over the path.

Near Flatts Lane Country Park on the outskirts of Middlesbrough. The tree on the left side here adds that ‘something’ to what would otherwise be a fairly mundane photograph.
