Long-tailed-Tits

With the tail of this bird constituting half the entire length of it, the long-tailed-tit is a rather distinctive looking bird. I was very fortunate to get these photographs over one day, so there aren’t that many of them. I would normally prefer to have more than this, but this is quite a special bird so deserves to be included in the album. I hope to get more photos of this bird in the future.

The photos here were all taken through a window, with the bird only around one meter away, so for once I didn’t need to use the huge 400mm lens for bird photography; in fact, it was so close, I was using a macro lens, which can focus much closer than normal lenses.

The photographs on this page were all taken on 29th March 2025.

1. Leica SL(601), Apo-Macro-Elmarit-R 100mm f/2.8, 1/200sec @ f/5.6, ISO 800.

It doesn’t take much imagination as to where this bird got its name from!
